Continuing on from my last post about Windows 7 features I’ll touch on window management, libraries and homegroups as well as the changes to UAC, gadgets, and some classic Windows applications.
Bungie Day Thankyou
by Timmy on Jul.10, 2009, under Games and Gaming
As some of you may know, Bungie (makers of Halo) has a special fascination with the number 7, meaning that the day 7/7 (July 7) has a particular significance. The following video is both a thankyou from Bungie for a celebration of their day, and the most awesome Halo 3 Film I have ever seen. Enjoy.
Windows 7 (RC1)
by Timmy on Jul.08, 2009, under Tech

While the Windows 7 Release Candidate has been available for a couple of months, and before that the public beta from January 9th, it still feels like Windows 7 is something we should have a look at here, particularly since I’ve now been using it on my laptop for a while now. I’ll stick more to the new features and looks of Windows 7 rather than going into anything technical at all past the hardware requirements of running it.
According to http://windows.microsoft.com the system requirements of Windows 7 are as follows:
- 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
- 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
- DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

In the words of our favourite Terminator, “I’m back.”.
Okay, yes, you got me, in the last week I did have a Terminator marathon and then go and watch the new film (Terminator Salvation) at the cinema. You’re quite good…
Anyway, the real reason I am here is that it is StuVac or Study Vacation (reading week/study week/a holidy) here at Uni for me and so I don’t really have any set times to be doing things meaning I can finally spend some free time doing this (not mentioning it’s 2:20AM). The reason it even has to be this late is because any time that I get free to myself turns into either time hanging out with everyone here on campus or actually doing a bit of work!
There has been a lot going and gone on since the last post here (this being the first post I have made since February when I moved into Weerona College in Wollongong). There has been a lot going on in the world with swine flu, actual rain and winter as well as in the tech world where the iPhone 3GS was announced, a mountain of news from E3 and the beta AND Release Candidates for Windows 7, as well as a downpour of day to day things. Because there is so much going on now and so much time and news has already been missed there is no chance that we’ll catch up with it all but I have every intention of grinding the site along a few steps again. That said I will definitely go into detail on certain things (very specifically E3) at a later time but that won’t be now. At least over the next two months (during exams and break) I’ll be kicking some content into these rusty tubes, but I’ll do my best to both get Johnno excited and to keep myself going throughout next session.
So with that said, I’ll just like to say keep your RSS readers well-oiled and watch this space (and my twitter) for updates that will be coming. Expect news and opinions on E3, how I have been watching and like Firefly, my Windows 7 experience and a lot of other assorted random stuff.
Until then though adoring fans of the glory that was and will forever be Timmy and Johnno, I have to say goodnight, and see you soon!

I was looking through some old school books today, when I came across a lovely little bit of scribble Timmy once wrote to me during year 10 IST class. Apparently I must have been annoying him that day, because he gave me this little bit of programming language to tell me what to do:

Ah… I’m getting all nostalgic for our old school days…
The World’s 20 Hottest Gingers – Part 1
by Johnno on Mar.05, 2009, under Uncategorized
It feels good to be writing stuff for Timmy and Johnno again! Today, avid readers, I present to you a list that I have been working on for many months now (the guys who I used to go to school with can confirm that).
Technically, they are a race of genetic deforms. Their flaming hair and pale skin have been the subject of joke upon joke for many years. On average, they worry about holes in the ozone layer thirteen times more than the average human being. However guys, I think we have to agree that there is something captivating and down-right attractive about red-heads. Particularly those of the female persuasion.
So today, from a list I have of about 50, I have narrowed down the World’s 20 Hottest Gingers – Fictional or Otherwise. Enjoy! (continue reading…)

Just for kicks, here’s an old article from our first website.
In case you’re wondering, this story is true. I still have this news article cut-out at home.

There you have it folks: A modern porno, shot in Black and White.
In Our Element – Chapter iv

Australia Day
Southbank, Melbourne
About 10:30pm
The huge building was dimly lit. Except for the soft residential sounds coming from below, it was eerily silent. The lack of noise made the sound of glass on glass even more apparent.
“Dude… are you sure?” a young, teenage, male voice asked softly . It sounded a little concerned, but otherwise nonchalant. Be cool, Rhett, owner of the voice, told himself.

Australia Day
Elwood Beach, Melbourne
11:45 pm
Somewhere down a hallway, a dying air conditioner spluttered out.
“It’s so hot,” came a groan from the floor of Lorelei’s bedroom. The owner of the voice wasn’t actually visible in the darkness. Someone had told him that hot air rises, and so he prostrated himself on a mattress in a vain attempt to get cooler.
“Well spotted, Ethan,” another voice, this time female, on the other side of the bedroom floor retorted. “Even being in the dark isn’t helping,” she complained.
Lorelei, the occupant of the bed and equally as hot, pushed hair off her face and grimaced at the sweat she could feel on the back of her neck and her forehead. “Can you guys… shut up,” she asked, her request punctuated by a yawn. “Everyone knows it’s hot. It’s got to cool down eventually. Quit whining.” (continue reading…)
In Our Element – Chapter ii

26th January, 2008 Australia Day Essendon suburbs, Melbourne Nearly 11pm
Plumes of smoke twisted their way into warm night air. Misting and dissolving into one, they made patterns and shapes against the dark sky. Eventually, the air took the smoke until it totally dissipated, leaving no trace. The process was repeated in seamless echo.
“Just like life,” a very stoned mouth murmured, blowing out more of the same smoke which curled off the joint in his hand. “Am I right, or am I right?” (continue reading…)
